A little more about me… I was born and raised in Pittsburgh (obviously a HUGE Steeler fan), along with my other 4 siblings. The 5 of us have been surrounded in football for as long as I can remember. Both of my brothers played football all throughout their childhood, and all 3 of us sisters were cheerleaders. It was so cool being able to cheer with my sisters for my brothers as they played! Even cooler, all 5 of us had the opportunity to cheer and play football in college as well. My older sister was a cheerleader at Morgan State University; My older brother played college ball at Harvard; I cheered all 4 years at the University of Miami; my twin – yes, my actual twin sister- cheered both at Drexel University & Morgan State University; lastly, my little brother briefly played ball at the University of Pittsburgh.

I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Psychology & Theatre. During my time there is where I met my guy, Ufomba Kamalu (or just Kamalu, or Bebe as I affectionately love to call him). He played football, so it was perfect being able to cheer for the game I love, the school I love, and the guy I love all at once. I hit the trifecta!!

One thing to know about me is that I always like having a plan. So naturally, when graduation season was slowly creeping up, I immediately wanted to start planning every single moment of our whole lives down to the moment. That plan would have been perfect except for a couple of things. 1. That’s just not how life works; life is full of surprises. & 2. What Kamalu wanted to do with his life is literally the definition of a lifestyle you cannot plan for. Not only can you not plan for it, but it can also be an experienced filled with ups & downs, and uncertainty. One moment you may be on a team grinding and going to work, and the next you could be out of a job and scrambling for your next move. So, how crazy would it be for me, a down to the moment planner, to jump in head first into a life filled with so much uncertainty? Nonetheless, I did, and even though it can be a crazy, stressful, nail biting experience at times, I wouldn’t trade these moments with my guy for anything.

We are currently living in Houston, TX with our 2 dogs, Nibbler & Courage, where he just finished up his second season with the Texans. I’m still trying to figure myself out and grow into the woman God wants me to be, and figure out this crazy thing called adulthood at the same time. It can be challenging growing into yourself, and I may make mistakes along the way, but I always just try to take everything one day at a time, one moment at a time, and most importantly, trying to enjoy life’s small and big victories along the way!
